In honor of our brother Alfred (Freddy) Luna Team That's Your Pedo is running on September 21, 2019, at the Homeboy 5K & Festival to raise money and more importantly awareness for Homeboy Industries an organization that provides hope, training, and healing to formerly gang-involved and incarcerated men and women. We lost our brother 10 years ago, and by losing him at a young age it has helped us realize what kind of community we want to be a part of, and what kind of energy we want to put out in the world. Freddy taught us so much, especially how to be positive and brave. It takes so much courage to reinvent yourself and begin a new chapter in life and just like our brother, that’s the kind of fearlessness these men and women embody.
Freddy loved Father Greg Boyle, and that’s why Team That's Your Pedo continues to honor his memory by supporting an organization that empowers people to heal and transform. It could be the worst feeling in the world to feel like you're alone in anything that you're going through in life. It's helpful to be reminded we’re all in this journey and none of us are traveling it alone, and that's exactly what Homeboy Industries does for others.
Freddy touched so many people’s lives and made everyone laugh. Our team name comes from one of our brother’s funniest catchphrases. A catchphrase that when he said this to you, he was telling you that’s your problem (whether big or small) in the funniest way possible. Freddy always put a smile on your face with these three words “That’s Your Pedo!”, because life’s too short to be negative.
When you have a moment, please take a look at Team That's Your Pedo fundraising page or consider joining our team. We are so grateful for your continued support to bring job, educational, and housing resources to the community.
With love and gratitude,
Denise & Team That's Your Pedo
PS - Freddy was an incredibly talented artist. Our team image (attached) is one of Freddy's beautiful artwork we are grateful to honor. We continue to dedicate this run to the East Los Angeles community in honor of Freddy.
